ADRIGOLE have advanced to the knockout stages of the Bon Secours Hospital IAFC following victory over Glenville at sun-kissed Carrigadrohid on Saturday afternoon.

Adrigole will face St Vincent’s in the quarter-finals while Glenville face Ballinora in the relegation play-off.

The first score arrived after three minutes, a long-range point from excellent midfielder Jason Harrington. Glenville were very defensive in the early stages and it was understandable given they required a result to avoid a relegation play-off.

The sides traded points before David Harrington curled over a beauty for the Beara side. Seán O’Sullivan raised a white flag as Adrigole pushed three points clear, 0-4 to 0-1 after 12 minutes. Adrigole were too slick for their opposition as they moved the ball through the lines with ease. David Harrington clipped over two quick fire points for the team in red and white, 0-6 to 0-1 after 17 minutes.

Charlie O’Sullivan extended Adrigole’s advantage with a fine score before Glenville landed their second point after 22 minutes through Josh Cooke only for Jason Harrington to convert a free at the other end of the pitch 55 seconds later, 0-8 to 0-2.

Adrigole were in complete control as they kicked four of the last five points of the half to lead 0-12 to 0-3 at the interval.

Glenville improved slightly in the new half, Cooke with his second point. The Imokilly side after a bright start to the second-half suffered a sucker punch when Adrigole sub Tommy O’Sullivan placed the ball into the bottom corner of the net, 1-12 to 0-4 after 36 minutes. Glenville went down the other end and scored a goal of their own, Cooke with a majestic shot into the top corner of the net.

Jason Harrington pointed before the winners were reduced to 14 players for ten minutes when Cathal O’Sullivan received a black-card as Adrigole led 1-13 to 1-4 after 41 minutes. Adrigole were back to 15 players as they led 1-16 to 1-6. The sides traded points as the game went into injury-time. Adrigole finished with a flourish with the last two points to seal an emphatic win.
