LADY Luck deserted Cork teams in the quarter-final draw in the Clayton Hotels sponsored Munster Schools Junior Cup.

All three, holders CBC, PBC and Bandon Grammar School, must travel with Christians most unfortunate.

They were the only first-round winners to get the short straw of an away tie and must now face Rockwell College in Clanwilliam next week.

Christians progressed after a 25-3 win over Ardscoil Ris while Rockwell had a convincing win, too, overcoming Glenstal Abbey 24-0.

Pres, who lost to Castletroy College, but rebounded with an eight-try win over Ardscoil, have a difficult tie against Crescent College College in Limerick. Crescent advanced on a 21-10 win over St Clement’s.

Bandon lost to one of the fancied teams, St Munchin’s, by 12-3 in round one and received a bye to the last-eight, where they play Castletroy, also in Limerick.

The outstanding quarter-final game is an all-Limerick affair between St Munchin’s and St Clement’s, who shocked Glenstal with two late tries in yesterday’s play-off. Dates, venues and kick-off times are to be arranged.
