Patrician Academy 3-6 Abbey CBS 0-7

PATRICIAN Academy from Mallow won their first ever Munster Senior B FC title at Kilmallock.

Abbey CBS had the aid of the breeze in the first half but the Cork side started well when Aidan Bolster and Conor Corbett placed Barry O'Shea for a goal after four minutes.

Abbey CBS had their first score in the 11th minute when Tony O'Neill pointed, followed by two Eoghan Lonergan scores. The Mallow defenders made some good blockdowns and at the break it was tight, 1-0 to 0-3.

On the resumption Abbey moved Jim Quirke to midfield but lost midfielder Diarmuid Looby to an injury though his replacement Caleb Molloy-Hickey did well.

Corbett slotted over a couple of points but Abbey replied with points by Caleb Molloy-Hickey and Tony O'Neill: 1-2 to 0-5.

At the end of the third quarter Tadhg O'Mahony found Barry O'Shea who goaled and the same player followed with a point, which put Academy in the driving seat.

Good play by Jamie O'Keeffe led to another O'Shea point as Academy moved double scores clear: 2-4 to 0-5. They sealed the victory when Corbett and O'Shea combined wonderfully with the former Cork minor captain taking the return pass and scoring a fine goal.
