The quarter-final and relegation playoff weekend served up drama across the board, and there was no shortage of candidates for the Echo Cork Football Team of the Week. So, as always, here’s your best 15 and nine substitutes incorporating the top three grades of Premier Senior, Senior A and Premier Intermediate.

Goalkeeper: Micheál Ó Deasúna (Cill na Martra) 0-2 (1 tpf)

The second-half hero for Cill na Martra at both ends of the pitch. Scored a monstrous two-pointer to kick them back into gear after Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh had punched back. Then, he produced a wonderful save to deny Diarmuid Ó Ceallacháin when their opponents threatened for goal.

Corner-back: Kevin O’Donovan (Nemo Rangers) 0-1

Excellent as he so often is for Nemo. Brought his best in both defending and breaking forward against Castlehaven, and scored a point, too.

Full-back: Dan Peet (Clonakilty)

Another terrific display in the full-back line from Peet, anchoring the defence as they endured a second period with 14 men. Crucial in preventing Newcestown from creating many chances in that latter half.

Corner-back: Seán Ó Fóirréidh (Cill na Martra) 0-1

Outstanding again for Cill na Martra. Brilliant in defence and was the provider for a crucial score his brother slotted over following Ó Deasúna’s save in the final quarter.

Half-back: Ciaran Doolan (St Finbarr’s)

Lethal across the hour at wing-back and involved in much of what the Barrs got right in their comfortable win over Carbery, assisting one point and almost netted a goal, only to be denied by the post.

Centre-back: Chris Kenneally (Clonakilty) 0-3

Lively in both halves and contributed three to the scoreboard and he was a massive presence for Clon in the half-back line. Helped turn the game in their favour in the second half to set up a semi-final with the Barrs.

Half-back: Colin Molloy (Nemo Rangers) 0-3

So effective going forward in possession and clipped three points, a brilliant performance from the young Nemo defender. He continues to go from strength to strength.

Midfielder: Brian Hayes (St Finbarr’s) 0-3 (1 tp)

His final tally comes with an asterisk next to the two-pointer but it was another brilliant footballing display from the Cork hurler, who the Barrs were happy to withdraw after 41 minutes with the work done.

Midfielder: Pádraig De Roiste (Fermoy) 0-4 (1 tp)

Injury forced De Roiste to watch from the sideline for much of Fermoy’s season, but he provided the goods here as they saw off Rockchapel by five to reach the semis.

An excellent display from midfield.

Half-forward: Seán White (Clonakilty) 0-3

Kicked a few excellent scores following on from the three he tallied against Ballincollig, White was superb in Clon’s attack as they took it to Newcestown in the second period.

Centre-forward: Brian O’Sullivan (Kanturk) 0-1

Another exceptional display from O’Sullivan and another Team of the Week appearance, this one his first of the season in football. He was so influential from start to finish, pulling the strings of Kanturk’s attack. The ball he provided the full-forward line with was something else.

Half-forward: Declan Dunne (Castletownbere) 0-8 (1 tp)

Huge scoring for the Beara outfit as they outlasted Glanmire, but it was the two points he kicked at the death that mattered most. Dunne was faultless in their PIFC relegation playoff win.

Corner-forward: Dónal Ó Ceallaigh (Naomh Abán) 3-3

The hat-trick hero for Naomh Abán, Ó Ceallaigh’s outrageous tally ensured they skipped past Macroom and into yet another Premier Intermediate semi-final.

Full-forward: Brian Hurley (Castlehaven) 0-10 (1 tpf, 0-3 f)

Another fantastic display from the evergreen Brian Hurley, scoring five from play. He did so well to haul Castlehaven back into contention, but a semi-final placing was not to be.

Corner-forward: Ross Corkery (Nemo Rangers) 0-5 (0-2 f)

Scored a crucial point late on to halt the Haven charge, Corkery showed what he could do here with a season uninterrupted by injury. Onwards and upwards for the forward.

Substitutes:

Mark White (Clonakilty) 0-2 (1 tpf)

Michael Murphy (Kilshannig)

Jack Horgan (Nemo Rangers) 0-2

Alan Quinn (Macroom) 0-6 (1 tpf)

Fintan Fenner (Castletownbere) 0-6 (1 tp, 1 tpf, 0-2 f)

Paul Walsh (Kanturk) 0-4 (2 tp)

Darragh O’Mahony (Ballincollig) 1-3

Séamus O’Sullivan (Newcestown) 1-4

Ben Twomey (Fermoy) 1-2 (1 tp)
