All-Ireland series will run into December for Cork camogie teams
THE Cork senior camogie team will be playing into December if they reach the latter stages of this year's All-Ireland championship.
The U16 team will be in the same scenario but the minors will only have a provincial rather than All-Ireland campaign to look forward to this winter. The Cork minors had landed the last two All-Ireland titles, so that news will come as a disappointment to Jerry Wallace's team and backroom.
That's the news from the Camogie Association, as panels get ready to return to full-contact club training and matches from next Monday. The unfinished leagues have now been officially cancelled.
The Cork board held the draw for their senior club championship on Monday night.

As with the men's arm of the GAA, inter-county camogie activity is on hold until October, with the date yet to be confirmed. The adult teams will be put into a round-robin format before the knockout phase, which had been the case at senior level anyway in recent years.
In addition, the AIB All-Ireland club camogie championships will take place this season, concluding in 2021. There is no clarification from the GAA yet as to what will happen with their junior, intermediate and senior provincial and All-Ireland club hurling and football competitions.
The statement explained:
"Further to our recent announcements regarding the ‘Safe Return to Gaelic Games’ roadmap, issued by the Gaelic Games Family, the Camogie Association have reviewed the National Fixtures Schedule, accounting for the significantly reduced time available for competitive fixtures at club and County levels.
"The Camogie Association can now confirm the arrangements being made for national competitions for the remainder of 2020 in light of the disruptions to this year’s calendar as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The 2020 Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Championships will take place between October – December 2020. The exact format and dates of these competitions will be finalised in the coming weeks.
"The competitions will begin on a round-robin basis with increased groups before progressing to the knockout stages. There will be no automatic promotion/relegation in the 2020 All-Ireland Championships.
"The 2020 All-Ireland U16 Championships will take place between October – December 2020. The exact format and dates of these competitions will be finalised in the coming weeks.
The 2020/2021 AIB All-Ireland Club Championships will proceed as normal but with a revised calendar that will run into 2021. The exact format and dates of these competitions will be finalised in the coming weeks.
"The 2020 Littlewoods Ireland Camogie Leagues which began in February have now been cancelled.
"The 2020 Tesco All-Ireland Minor Championships which began in February have now been cancelled. Minor competitions will take place however on a provincial basis in 2020.
"The National Competitions Management Committee will confirm competition entries for all competitions in the coming weeks.
"The Association is continuing to work through options regarding underage structures and initiatives in 2020 and will provide an update on this in the coming weeks.
"The Association wishes to acknowledge that the cancellation of many competitions is of great disappointment to those involved however due to these unprecedented times many such difficult decisions have had to be made."
