National housing charity Threshold has rebranded its access housing unit in Cork as Threshold Intervention and Prevention Service (Tips) to reflect the breadth of support that it offers.
Tips helps individuals and families in emergency accommodation to exit homelessness and also provides ongoing tenancy sustainment support to people at risk of homelessness.
The rebrand comes as Threshold responds to the changing profile of homelessness in Cork, with single men accounting for 88% of referrals through the homeless action team in 2026 to date, compared to 20% in 2021.
Tips is unique to Cork within Threshold and receives referrals from a range of partners, including Cork City Council and Threshold’s tenancy protection service.
Operating in Cork since 2012, Threshold has received 1,292 referrals to date.
Mairéad O’Sullivan, assistant manager of TIPS, said: “Every person and household we work with has different circumstances and different challenges, and our role is to understand those needs and provide the right support at the right time.
“The needs of the people we work with are changing, and our approach needs to evolve with them.“
