One of South Korea’s most accomplished musicians, recently seen in action at the BBC Proms, is set to perform in Cork next month.
In August, pianist Yeol Eum Son took centre stage at a sold-out Royal Albert Hall in London, performing Gershwin’s Piano Concerto with the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
Ms Son is a major figure in Korean musical life, recognised not only for her international performing career but also for her work as a broadcaster, writer, and cultural figure.
At 18 she appeared with the New York Philharmonic under Lorin Maazel and went on to success at the world’s leading piano competitions.
On Saturday, November 21, Ms Son will join members of the Irish Chamber Orchestra at St Michael’s Church, Blackrock, to direct a double bill of piano concertos by Mozart: No 24 in C minor and No 21 in C major.
