On Monday night, classes will include meditation and a new mindset for the week ahead.

As we head towards the end of September, thoughts turn to events in the autumn.

For the first time in a number of years, adult education evening courses return to Bishopstown Community School, with a variety of options over the week.

For this term, classes will run on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights.

On Monday night, classes will include meditation and a new mindset for the week ahead. Hayley Power invites you to reset and get set for the week by using meditation and crystal soundbath tools. These encourage the body and mind to align, encouraging peace of mind and a positivity of thought, all necessary elements to achieve a successful week of work.

Other Monday classes include scrabble, photography, culinary medicine, advice on how to upcycle your kitchen, Colour with Clio, and introductions to sign language and ISL.

Tuesday will see two yoga classes: Yoga for Baby Boomers and Yin Yoga.

In the baby boomers’ class, enjoy yoga tailored for a generation famous for being productive parents. Now it’s your time to get back into it again.

Yin Yoga assists and combines the mind and body to reset and restore, with Danni Waters, of Ganesha Yoga.

Also on Tuesday night, you have macramé for beginners. Learners will be shown how to accessorise their home with creative cord artwork to hold pot plants or other belongings in stylish bags.

There is also a special-needs-assistant course, which is a QQI-accredited Level 5 and 6 SNA course.

Hockey and cricket classes

For sports fans, there are also hockey and cricket classes.

On Wednesday, there is an afternoon bridge course, as well as an evening one.

For those who would like to know more about wine, there is an introduction to wines, a WSET-accredited Course level. This will enable learners to understand the fundamentals of wine, from how to buy good wine to serving it, and is run by O’Brien’s wines manager, Paul Fox.

It can facilitate anyone seeking to work in hospitality and has a globally recognised accreditation.

Sharper Minds, an Alzheimer’s preventative course and a Spanish-for-beginners course, are also taking place on Wednesday.

A spokesperson said they were delighted to have adult education evening courses back at the school and they hope to grow the variety available in the coming year.

With classes due to start in a few weeks, early registration is encouraged.

Most classes start at 7pm and range in cost from €30 to €89.

All courses start during the week commencing on Monday, September 23.
