Five Cork finalists shortlisted for Full Circle recycling awards

Five individuals, organisations, and community groups in Cork have been shortlisted for this year’s Full Circle Awards.

The awards, in their second year, celebrate the people and the initiatives that help communities across Ireland to reduce waste, reuse resources, and promote more sustainable living.

The awards recognise impact across six categories: Repair and reuse champion; community circular champion; creative circular design; circular living advocate; best community campaign; and circular sports champion.

Shortlist

On this year’s shortlist are five finalists from Cork, whose work spans community campaigns, food-waste prevention, toy reuse, grassroots sport, and creative circular initiatives.

The Cork finalists include Ladysbridge Tidy Towns, under the best community campaign category for its ‘Clean like your Granny did’ campaign; Cathy Fitzgibbon, under the circular living advocate category, for helping households become more sustainable; and Giorgia Anile’s ‘The Toy Library’, recognised under the community circular champion category for the promotion of toy reuse.

Also recognised in Cork is Bunratty United AFC, under the circular sports champion category, for tackling waste through practical initiatives; and the Cork Community Art Link group in Blackpool, recognised under the creative circular design category, for its work with public projects, such as the Dragon of Shandon.

Each category winner will receive a €2,000 prize, along with a handcrafted trophy created from upcycled materials.

Shortlisted finalists will also benefit from national media exposure, social-media promotion, and features across the Circular.ie platform.

The winners will be announced in Carlow on September 17.
