Council tenants to stage protest over 'appalling' condition of dilapidated Cork city flats
The Togher flats are of the same design as the Noonan’s Rd flats, which are due to be demolished. The three-storey maisonette style was introduced in the 1960s by then city architect Eamon O’Byrne. Cork Corporation, the precursor of Cork City Council, expected them to have a 50-year lifespan. Picture: William O'Brien.
The flats, at Togher Rd, Clashduv Rd, Sycamore Place, Cherry Tree Rd, and Maple Place, are the same age and design as the dilapidated Noonan’s Rd flats, which the council intends to begin demolishing shortly.
