Older people across Cork asked for their say in how AI is used

Older people across Cork are being invited to have their say on the future use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), as part of a new national AI literacy initiative which seeks to inform future research and policy in the area.

The Age-Friendly AI initiative, led by TU Dublin and the Research Ireland Adapt centre for AI-driven digital content technology, aims to inform future research and policy in the area.

The ‘AI Opinions’ campaign is a core element of Age-Friendly AI’s commitment to ensuring everyone has the opportunity to develop critical relevant literacy skills, along with empowering people to understand, discuss, and shape how AI affects their daily lives.

Laura Grehan, head of education, engagement and societal impact at the Research Ireland Adapt centre, said it was important that people give their input through the initiative.

“The Age-Friendly AI team, supported by leading age-advocacy organisations, is renewing its call for older people across every county in Ireland to have their say.

“Whether they are enthusiastic about AI, concerned about it, curious about it, or don’t use it at all, we want to hear from them,” she said.

“Their views can provide important evidence for research and help inform the policies and practices that will shape how AI is developed and used.”

All older adults across Cork are invited to share their opinions online through a short, anonymous form on the Age-Friendly AI website: agefriendlyai.ie.
