Man charged with sexually assaulting his daughter in Cork and Wexford

A 43-year-old man was arrested and charged with two counts of sexually assaulting his own daughter on dates between January 2019 and May 2021.

Detective Garda Mary-Jane Somers charged him with sexually assaulting his daughter at an address in Co Wexford in 2019, and at a house in Cork between May 2020 and May 2021.

Sergeant David Fleming confirmed that the DPP directed trial by indictment on the two charges.

Detective Garda Somers said there was no objection to bail on conditions that require him to have no contact with the complainant, directly or indirectly, to sign once a week at his local garda station and to provide gardaí with a mobile phone number on which he would be contactable at all times.

Because of the nature of the case, there is a prohibition on identification of the parties.

Judge David Waters adjourned the case to September 29 to allow time for preparation and service of a book of evidence.
