Ballyphehane residents will walk to Tramore Valley Park on Sunday to highlight poor access 

As part of an ongoing campaign to connect Ballyphehane and surrounding areas to Tramore Valley Park, two public representatives are to host a public walk on Saturday, September 5.

The walk, organised by Councillor Fiona Kerins and Donnchadh O Laoghaire TD, will begin at the Woodies car park at midday and participants will walk to the nearest pedestrian entrance to highlight the need for better connection to the park.

In a letter sent to residents in the area, the representatives said: “We will be walking from where the footbridge could be, to the front entrance of Tramore Valley Park, via the only current entrance, at Half Moon Lane, off the South Douglas Road.

“It should be possible to walk to it in five minutes from the Kinsale Road to the entrance, a distance of 300 metres. Unfortunately, though, residents are cut off by the Link Road and have to walk 32 minutes, and 2.5km, to Half Moon Lane, on a route which is sometimes narrow with unsafe crossings."

Residents from all areas near Ballyphehane, Togher, Turner’s Cross and Kinsale Road are invited to join the walk.
