Outdoor Mass at Cork's Lee Road shrine to mark 75th year

Outdoor mass at the Holy Rosary Shrine on the Lee Road in Cork city will take place once again this weekend, marking the 75th year of the celebration.
The annual mass and devotions, to mark the feast day of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary into heaven, will take place at 7.30pm on Saturday, August 15.
The event devotions are an important event in the annual calendar of Cork City Heritage of Faith, Shrine Mass co-ordinator Colette Fitzpatrick said.
The chief celebrant will be Bishop Fintan Gavin, Bishop of the diocese of Cork and Ross.
Ms Fitzpatrick added: “All are welcome to attend on Saturday and partake in a tradition which has endured for generations.”
The local Clogheen church choir and the Butter Exchange Band, who have performed at the event going back many years, will be performing on the night, and some seating will be available for those who need it.
