The 74th annual Mass and devotions at the Holy Shrine, Lee Road, will take place at 7.30pm on Friday, August 15.

This special Mass is to mark the feast day of the Assumption.

The chief celebrant will be Bishop John Buckley, bishop emeritus of Cork and Ross, and the preacher will be Fr Aidan Vaughan, OFM, CAP.

The annual devotions are an important event in the annual calendar of Cork City Heritage of Faith, a group established by Bishop Buckley.

All are welcome to attend on Friday and partake in a tradition which has endured for generations.

Some seating will be available for those who need it.

The local Clogheen church choir and the Butter Exchange Band will also be present on the night.

This week the shrine Mass co-ordinator Colette Fitzpatrick, paid tribute to all of the volunteers who work throughout the year to care for the shrine.
