Cobh selected to represent Ireland on European stage
The chair of the Cobh Municipal District, councillor Cathal Rasmussen, with representatives from Cork County Council and Cobh Tidy Towns, celebrating the town's nomination for the 2027 Entente Florale Europe competition.
Cobh has been selected to represent Ireland at the one of Europe's most prestigious community and environmental competitions.
Cobh will go up against entrants from Czechia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Hungary in the Large Town category of the 2027 Entente Florale Europe competition.
The competition, established in 1975, places an emphasis on partnership between local authorities and communities in delivering lasting improvements to their towns and villages.
A Cork County Council spokesperson said Cobh nomination reflects reflects the town's impressive track record in the Tidy Towns competition. Cobh earned its first Gold Medal in 2015 and has retained Gold status every year since.

Cobh was nominated for the competition by the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, following the town’s impressive track record in the Tidy Towns competition.
Judging will take place during summer 2027, when an international jury will visit Cobh to assess a range of criteria including environmental management, community involvement, sustainability initiatives and the overall quality of life within the town.
The results will be announced at an international awards ceremony later next year.
“We look forward to supporting Cobh as it prepares to represent Ireland on the European stage,” said the mayor of the county of Cork Bernard Moynihan.
