A rehearsed reading concert performance of Cú Chulainn will take place at The Everyman in Cork this August 13.
The opera production, commissioned by The Everyman and inspired by the characters of Táin, was created by Éadaoin O’Donoghue and John O’Brien.
Cú Chulainn follows the critically acclaimed opera Morrígan, which received widespread praise following its 2022 premiere.
The new work explores the great and tragic relationship between Cú Chulainn and Ferdia, the political intrigue of Queen Medb’s court, and the demise of Conor MacNessa, bringing some of Ireland’s most enduring mythological figures vividly to life.
The production’s cast includes Niamh O’Sullivan, Rory Dunne, Gavan Ring, Ronald Samm, Rachel Croash, Brendan Collins, Gráinne Gillis and Viktor Priebe.
The cast will also be accompanied by chorus and the Cork Opera House Concert Orchestra, which will be conducted by Mr O’Brien.
Tickets are priced from €30 at https://everymancork.com.
