The plans also provide for the construction of a 76-space creche with 15 staff members, as well as 383 car parking spaces and 148 bicycle parking spaces.

Planning permission is being sought for the construction of more than 260 new homes at a site in Ballyvolane.

An application for the large-scale residential development (LRD) was submitted to Cork City Council by Longview Estates Ltd.

The development, consisting of 262 apartments, duplexes, and houses, comes as part of an expansion to the existing Longview development on the Ballyhooly Rd, which is currently under construction and, once completed, will provide for more than 750 homes.

The proposed plans, seeking to develop a 7.62 hectare site, include a mix of one, two, three and four bed units, spread across five blocks of varying height.

The plans also provide for the construction of a 76-space creche with 15 staff members, as well as 383 car parking spaces and 148 bicycle parking spaces.

A series of communal open spaces will also be constructed as part of the development, as well as new vehicular, pedestrian and cycle connections to the east, west, and north of the site.

In a planning statement submitted alongside the application, the applicant said the proposed development will make a “significant contribution to the delivery of housing in Cork city on underutilised serviced lands” and provides “a good housing mix that is reflective of verified housing needs”.

Cork City Council is due to make a decision on the application by August 19.
