A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said while the road remains open at this time, disruption to traffic flow in the area should be expected.

Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious road traffic collision in Cork city centre.

The incident, involving multiple cars, occurred on the Lower Glanmire Road near Leisureplex shortly after lunchtime.

It is understood that tents have been erected at the scene, where one driver sustained injuries.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said while the road remains open at this time, disruption to traffic flow in the area should be expected.

“As this is an ongoing incident no further information is available,” the spokesperson added.
