A status yellow rain warning has been issued for Cork and Kerry, with Met Éireann warning of heavy spells of rain ahead of concerts at Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Musgrave Park and the Marquee this weekend.

On Friday, Kodaline will perform at Musgrave Park (Virgin Media Park), while Bell X1 play Live at the Marquee. On Saturday, Zach Bryan takes the stage at the home of Cork GAA, and CMAT performs at Musgrave Park.

The national forecaster issued the warning on Wednesday. It will come into effect at 9pm on Thursday and remain in place until 12pm on Friday.

Met Éireann has warned that spells of heavy rain may lead to spot flooding and difficult travelling conditions.

The forecaster said outbreaks of rain, drizzle and mist will continue to spread from the southwest tonight, becoming heavy at times. Temperatures will fall to between 11C and 13C in light to moderate southerly winds.

Rain will continue to spread across Munster on Thursday morning but will become lighter and more patchy during the afternoon before more widespread and persistent rain returns in the evening.

Thursday will see mostly moderate southerly winds, becoming lighter in the west, with temperatures reaching highs of between 15C and 21C.

There will be another wet start on Friday, with outbreaks of rain across the country. Brighter, drier and more showery conditions are expected to develop in the west before extending eastwards.

Winds will remain mostly moderate from the south, veering light south-westerly as rain clears.

Temperatures will reach highs of between 16 and 20 degrees before falling to between 9C and 12C on Friday night. Conditions are expected to become drier, with clear spells and scattered showers.
