Case against man on charges of oral rape and sexual assault adjourned

Oral rape charges were brought against a 26-year-old man who was arrested at his home in Cork this week.
Detective Sergeant Éilís Murphy arrested the defendant and brought three charges against the man.
The defendant replied to the first charge of carrying out a sexual assault on February 16, 2025: “I did not do it.”
To the following two charges of oral rape of the same woman on the same occasion, the defendant made no reply.
Sergeant Gearóid Davis said the directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions were for trial by indictment at the Central Criminal Court or for a signed plea to be entered at Cork District Court and sent forward for sentencing at the Central Criminal Court.
Defence solicitor Eddie Burke said a book of evidence would be required.
Judge Miriam Walsh adjourned the case until July 14 for preparation and service of the book.
