Drugs unit gardaí allegedly uncovered €70,000 worth of cannabis and €49,000 worth of cocaine — together with cash totalling just over €29,000 — from two locations in Cork city in February. A young man has been remanded in custody for four weeks.

Jake O’Sullivan, aged 25, with an address at a room in Achill House, Western Road, and formerly of Fairfield Road, Farranree, appeared before Cork District Court by video link from prison.

He was represented by solicitor Shane Collins-Daly and faces multiple charges. Judge Catherine Ryan noted that progress would be expected on June 24.

Det Garda Ryan Dillon said gardaí carried out a search at a property on Fairfield Road, Farranree, on February 10 and discovered €70,000 worth of cannabis, €49,000 worth of cocaine and €16,515 in cash.

The detective said they then conducted a follow-up search at Achill House on Western Road. He said they found the second sum of cash — €12,600 — together with a weighing scales, at a room at Achill House, where the accused had been staying.

O’Sullivan was charged with possessing cannabis, possessing cocaine, possessing cannabis for sale or supply and possessing cocaine for sale or supply, at the Fairfield Road address.

Jake O’Sullivan was also charged with possessing cannabis in relation to the cannabis found at Achill House, and with money laundering in relation to the €12,600 found in the room during the same search.
