Stolen pharmacy products worth over €8,000 were never recovered by Cork stores

Thousands of euro worth of cosmetics, vitamins and hair-loss products were stolen in three shoplifting incidents at pharmacies in Cork by the same 49-year-old man who has now been jailed for eight months.
Elvis Dulea of Mirea Mioara Luiza Nr, Bucresti, Romania, was sentenced by Judge Catherine Ryan at Cork District Court.
He stole €2,869 worth of cosmetics and health supplements from Sam McCauley pharmacy in Blackpool Shopping Centre.
Forty boxes of vitamin tablets several bottles of hair-loss products with a total value of €1,920 were stolen by him at Boots Pharmacy in Mahon Point Shopping Centre.
He went to another Boots Pharmacy – at Half Moon Street – and stole €1,100 worth of cosmetics.
The same man admitted stealing over €1,500 worth of clothing from Premier Building Solutions on Pouladuff Road.
The last two shoplifting charges relate to €300 worth of property at JD Sports on Patrick’s Street and one more count related to Sam McCauley’s where the theft was of nine tubes of Lash mascaras and five bottles of vitamins valued €320.
The amount of property that was stolen and never recovered by the owners totalled at over €8,000.
Sergeant Gearóid Davis, said the accused was not long in Ireland but that he had clocked up theft convictions in various locations around the country, including Sligo, Cavan and Kilkenny.
Defence solicitor Shane Collins-Daly said the 49-year-old was from Romania and said he was sorry for his actions and understood the consequences for the businesses and all the people affected.
