Cork’s Laneway Gallery has reopened with a solo exhibition by artist Julianne Guinee.
The exhibition, “Boxed In”, features a range of oil paintings by Ms Guinee, which aim to explore moments where space begins to close in.
The collection depicts a range of figures that appear contained within boxes, interiors, and fragments of everyday life.
Ms Guinee’s practice explores motherhood, memory, and the emotional weight of domestic life, with her paintings focusing on women and children within interior spaces. The Buttevant native has painted full-time since 2019 and exhibits widely throughout Ireland.
Last year, she was awarded the Accenture Women on Walls commission to paint eight pioneering women for permanent display at University College Cork and appeared on Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year.
“Boxed In” will be at the Laneway Gallery on Shandon St until May 16, open every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11am to 4pm, and from 11am to 6pm on Saturdays.
