A photographic survey has been undertaken at Beaumont Park to assess the need for repairs and resurfacing works.
At the latest Local Area Committee meeting, a spokesperson for Cork City Council confirmed to Labour Party councillor for the Cork city South East ward, Peter Horgan, that a preliminary condition survey of the path network will be undertaken to identify “any required work”.
“Beaumont Park will also be considered as part of the assessment for the NTA Safe Routes to School programme for Beaumont Girls and Boys National Schools,” the spokesperson said.
“This scheme is currently at options stage where the programme of works is being identified, noting that front of school works will be prioritised.”
Mr Horgan said he hopes to see “a finished investment in the pathway around Beaumont Park in the very near future”.
“Beaumont Park is a critical open area for the local community," he said.
