Man ordered to stay off boat after alleged incident in Cork town

An unusual bail condition required a young man to stay off a boat that was docked at Kinsale pier, pending his court case.
34-year-old Stephen O’Connor, of 36 Ballycannon Heights, Meelick, County Clare, is accused of being so drunk that he was a danger to himself or others, and of engaging in threatening behaviour when he returned to a fishing boat at Kinsale.
The alleged incident relates to 8.30pm on April 29 at Pier Head, Kinsale, County Cork.
It is further alleged, in respect of his third charge, that he assaulted a member of An Garda Síochána following his arrest.
Judge Mary Dorgan adjourned the case until May 21 at Bandon District Court.
A second case against the same man was adjourned until May 14 at the Criminal Courts of Justice, in Dublin, on a charge that on February 24, at the car park of The Bloody Stream, Howth Railway Station, Howth Rd, Dublin, he was driving dangerously. Sergeant John Kelleher said, “One unusual bail condition is that he would stay off a boat, the ‘Hannah J’.”
