Severance actor Scott says West Cork 'one of most beautiful places in the world'
Adam Scott in Severance - he is now starring in the latest horror movie by Bantry director Damian McCarthy.
US actor Adam Scott has spoken about his time filming in West Cork ahead of the release of the horror film, today.
Having filmed the movie in West Cork last year, the and star appeared on American talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, to discuss its release.
The film, shot at West Cork Film Studios, and on location around Skibbereen, is the latest feature by Bantry director and writer, Damian McCarthy, who also directed horror films (2024) and (2020).

Mr Scott plays the protagonist of the film, Ohm Bauman, a ‘Stephen King-type’ author who visits a remote part of Ireland to spread his parent’s ashes.
During Bauman’s time in Ireland, he discovers that his hotel is haunted, and with several instances of paranormal activity, he is forced to confront painful aspects of his past.
While being interviewed by US chat show host Jimmy Kimmel, Mr Scott, described his experience staying at Cork’s Liss Ard Estate during filming.
“I stayed in an old manor in the middle of the West Cork countryside,” said Mr Scott.

“It must have been at least 400 years old, it was really beautiful, it was called the Liss Ard Estate.
“So, all these people would be coming there on like the most romantic couple of days of their lives, and I was just like the eccentric bachelor living upstairs,” he added.

“I would be in the restaurant just having my dinner, and people would be like ‘why is the Parks & Rec guy here while we’re trying to have an intimate moment’.”

Mr Scott is joined by several other high-profile actors in Hokum, including Peter Coonan, known for Bad Sisters and Love/Hate, and David Wilmot, who appeared in Hamnet.
In another publicity interview for the movie, Adam said he could 'lose himself' in West Cork and "stay for months and months", adding that West Cork "and Skibbereen specifically" was "one of the most beautiful palces in the world."
Hokum is released in Irish cinemas today, with three showings scheduled at Mahon Point’s Omniplex and at The Arc Cinema on North Main St.
