Amy Huberman joins Bono's son in cast of Cork-based Prime Video series

Bono's son John is following his sister Eve into the world of acting, as further casting details have been revealed for the upcoming series adaptation of the Cork-based Boys of Tommen books.

Written by Cork author Chloe Walsh, the highly anticipated show has confirmed that Amy Huberman, Eoin Macken, and Róisín Gallagher are joining the cast as some of the leads’ parents.

Huberman will play Edel Kavanagh, Johnny’s mother, while Macken and Gallagher will feature as Shannon’s parents, Teddy and Marie.

The ‘Core 10’ casting has also been completed, with Jamie Schneider joining as Patrick Feely, and James Craven will play Pierce O’Neill.

This followed previous casting announcements of Nancy Surridge and Conor Sánchez as the lead couple, Shannon and Johnny, who were cast in May after a widespread search.

Also confirmed for parts are James O’Donoghue (Joey Lynch) and Sophie McGibbon (Aoife Molloy), Amelia May (Claire Biggs), Indy Lewis (Lizzie Young), Alex Dunne (Hugh Biggs), Dixie Egerickx (Katie Wilmot), Daisy Jacob (Bella Wilkinson), Jonathan Heed (Cormac Ryan), Cathal Ó Síocháin (Ronan McGarry), and Bono’s son John Hewson, who plays Gerard Gibson.

The series is now in production, directed by Corkman, the director of award-winning  Christy, Brendan Canty, and will premiere on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Boys of Tommen follows the love story of Johnny Kavanagh, the star rugby player on the verge of a pro career, and Shannon Lynch, the talented but painfully shy new girl at the prestigious private school of Tommen College in Ballylaggin, Ireland. 

Both teenagers are hiding secrets and through their secret and highly charged connection, the two teens from opposite worlds battle against the odds and find a way to save each other.

The romantic drama series is being adapted for the screen by the producers of  The Summer I Turned Pretty, One Day and  Twilight. Season one will be adapted from Walsh’s first two novels in the series, Binding 13 and Keeping 13 and is being shot on location in Cork city and county.
