A jubilant Eleanor Nakonieczny celebrates winning the Lidl Customer First Champion 2026 award.

A customer assistant at Lidl’s Mallow store has been unveiled as the Customer First Champion at the company’s 2026 national achievement awards.

Eleanor Nakonieczny, who has worked for the company for 23 years, was selected from more than 6,000 employees to win the prestigious award.

A Lidl spokesperson said Ms Nakonieczny was recognised for her “remarkable enthusiasm and genuine care, which set an inspiring standard for her peers, ensuring everyone who walks through the doors feels entirely supported and appreciated”.

“Eleanor’s unwavering loyalty and upbeat nature bring a sense of purpose to the shop floor every single day,” the spokesperson said.

Reflecting on her win, Ms Nakonieczny saidthat “our customers truly feel like family to me”.

“I’ve always believed that a simple smile and a welcoming attitude can turn someone’s day around, and I’m so incredibly proud to bring that energy to the tills every single day.”
