A karaoke showcase, Drop the Mic, took place in Mayfield recently, organised by Cork City Partnership’s Patricia Cotter and Yvonne Quilligan.
The event, held at Mayfield Community School, allowed people over the age of 18 to perform as a group of up to four people or individually, with all entrants in the competition.
Tickets were completely free, though registration was required in advance, and a large crowd of people from the community attended the event, which the organisers hope to run annually.
As well as the karaoke competition, the night also featured prizes and special guest performances, including by the Mayfield Men’s Shed choir and even Lord Mayor of Cork Fergal Dennehy.
Cork City Partnership are a local and community development company working in Cork city, and opened an outreach office in Mayfield at The Community House, 79 Glenamoy Lawn, in early 2024.
