The annual Open Streets Festival 2026 will kick off this weekend with a colourful family event in Cork’s city centre.

The event, taking place this Saturday on Maylor St from 1pm to 3pm, will feature an afternoon packed with activity, where families can take part in playing outdoor games and enjoy a range of in-store experiences.

This weekend marks the first instalment of the new season, with exclusive offerings available on the day across a variety of retailers. Participating businesses include Tommy Hilfiger, Marks & Spencer, Penney’s, Skechers, and more.

The Lord Mayor of Cork, councillor Fergal Dennehy said Maylor St will “come alive with colour and excitement this Saturday”.

“It’s a great opportunity to experience the city centre as a welcoming space for fun, community and connection.”

Dave O’Brien, president of the Cork Business Association, said the aim of the initiative is “to bring vibrancy to the city streets”.
