Adam Corcoran has been found guilty of murdering his 27-year-old partner at their home in Midleton on an afternoon in August 2024.
31-year-old Adam Corcoran pleaded not guilty at the outset of the trial on Monday March 9 to murdering mother-of-two Daena Walsh at their home at John Barry House, Midleton, County Cork, on August 2 2024, and arson of the apartment.
Today, the jury of eight men and four women at the Central Criminal Court sitting in Cork told Ms Justice Siobhán Lankford that they had reached unanimous verdicts.
They found him guilty of murdering the 27-year-old mother-of-two.
They were also unanimous in finding him guilty of arson.
They took two hours and 30 minutes of deliberations, which commenced yesterday, to reach their verdicts.
Ms Justice Siobhán Lankford said: “These are solemn matter and it is important that they are done in public and that citizens participate in this process.” The judge excused them from jury service for a period of five years.
There was no visible reaction from Adam Corcoran, who wore a blue suit, pale blue shirt and striped tie, when the guilty verdicts were delivered.
He now faces the mandatory sentence for murder of life imprisonment.
