Gardaí investigate after fatal stabbing of man, 30s, in Cork city centre

The man's body remains at the scene pending a Garda forensic examination.

Gardaí are investigating the death of a man in his thirties following a suspected stabbing in Cork city centre on Monday night.

At around 7.30pm, gardaí and emergency services responded to reports that a man had suffered injuries following a suspected stabbing incident near a property at Camden Court on Carroll's Quay and Knapp's Square.

It is understood that emergency services attended to the injured man for some time at the scene before he was pronounced dead.

His body remains at the scene pending a Garda forensic examination.

In a statement, the Garda Press Office said gardaí and emergency services were at the scene of a serious incident near Knapp's Square.

"At this early stage, no additional information will be available tonight," they said.
