Cork County Council library and arts service has announced a countywide programme of events to mark International Women’s Day 2026.
The theme of the programme, “Give to Gain,” highlights the impact of collective support and the role communities play in creating opportunities for women and girls.
Across Cork, county libraries will host talks, workshops and cultural activities which will celebrate women’s voices, achievements and well-being. The events began this week and continue throughout the month.
FOREST BATHING
Among the events that are taking place are a forest bathing meditation session at Mitchelstown Library, a make-up masterclass in Bantry library and a women’s poetry reading at Kinsale library.
Healthy Ireland will also mark International Women’s Day by hosting free events in libraries with registered dietician and gut health specialist, Aoife McDonald, who will deliver talks focusing on Women’s Health in Carrigaline library on March 14 at 12pm and on the same date in Midleton Library at 3pm.
Patricia Curtin will deliver a talk about the women and girls from Midleton’s workhouse who went to Sydney in 1850, on Saturday, March 7, at Midleton Library.
Mayor of the County of Cork Mary Linehan-Foley said that events that share knowledge and encouragement with others are key to ‘Give to Gain’.
