More than €90,000 was donated to Cork-based cancer support centres in 2025, to facilitate more than 1,500 free community-based counselling sessions.

The Irish Cancer Society donated €77,500 to Cork ARC Cancer Support Centre, and €13,290 to Iris House Cork Cancer Support last year, to help the charities to deliver a total of 1,513 counselling sessions.

The funding will see 1,292 sessions completed at Cork ARC and 221 at Iris House.

Cork ARC Cancer Support Centre also provides touch therapies, acupuncture, exercise and mindfulness groups, health coaching and services for children and adolescents. Iris House Cork Cancer Support Centre also provides lymphoedema therapy, scar therapy, reiki, reflexology, and acupuncture.

Cork ARC chief executive Stephen Teap said the funding will enable them to “meet the high demand of free counselling services we provide in Cork and West Cork”.

“Every day our team is inundated with those who seek support after a cancer diagnosis and their families, and these partnerships are key in supporting those who need it most,” said Mr Teap.
