Schools, Youthreach centres, and other educational facilities across Cork are invited to take part in the Arts Council’s Creative February 2026 campaign.

The initiative, which encourages children and young people to celebrate their creativity, was launched recently at Cork City Library.

The event was attended by two local schools: Gaelscoil Choráin in Youghal and Le Chéile Secondary School in Ballincollig.

The Creative February campaign recognises schools that have the potential to be truly creative places, with this year’s theme, ‘Connect with Nature’, aiming to inspire young people to explore their relationship with the natural world.

A Creative February 2026 planner has been sent out to every school in Ireland, with further online resources available at the Creative February hub on the Arts Council website.

Resources include online workshops suitable for primary and post-primary students, recorded inspiration sessions for teachers, a creative-arts team guide for students who wish to run Creative February in their own school, and resources for post-primary students that will help them create their own podcasts.

TOURING

In addition, a Creative February touring exhibition — bringing schools, libraries, and national cultural partners together — will feature events across Cork, Donegal, Dublin, and Meath this month.

Moling Ryan, director of the Arts Council, said this is the third iteration of Creative February.

“This initiative provides creative educational resources to schools across Ireland, bringing a wonderful opportunity to nurture and celebrate the creativity of young people,” said Mr Ryan.

“I would encourage all schools across the country to get involved in Creative February and let their imaginations run wild.”
