Gerry McAvoy's Band of Friends will perform at The Everyman Theatre in Cork on Thursday March 5.

Fresh from sharing the stage with Joe Bonamassa at Live at the Marquee last July, Gerry is now embarking on a four-date Irish tour marking the 78th birthday of Rory Gallagher.

The Band of Friends was formed in 2012 by Rory Gallagher's long-time bassist, Gerry McAvoy, to honor Gallagher's legacy.

Mr McAvoy played, recorded and toured with Rory Gallagher for 20 years from 1971 to 1991.

At the Everyman, the Band of Friends will be playing a mixture of their own material along with Rory Gallagher songs.

Mr McAvoy has reshaped the band and they are now joined by Cork’s Brian Tambling, formerly of Stage Struck.

Over the years Band of Friends has been seen worldwide with various line-ups. But from the beginning, until his unfortunate death in 2019, it featured Ted McKenna on drums. Ted toured with Rory from 1978–1981.

The current line-up also includes the Belfast drummer Brendan O'Neill.

Tickets are priced at €29 from the Everyman theatre.
