Gardaí in Cork investigating overnight incident causing 'minor' fire damage

The incident occurred in Brooklodge, Glanmire at approximately 4am on Monday morning

Gardaí in Cork are investigating an overnight incident which caused minor fire damage to a vehicle outside a suburban residential property.

The incident occurred in Brooklodge, Glanmire at approximately 4am on Monday morning.

The fire is understood to have occurred outside the front door of a home in the estate and was extinguished before gardaí and fire services arrived on the scene.

No injuries were reported and gardaí said an investigation was underway.

Victor Shine, second officer with Cork City Fire Brigade, said it had been “a very minor fire” which had resulted in some minor vehicular and property damage.

Three vehicles from the fire brigade attended the scene.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: “Gardaí and fire services responded to reports of fire damage to a residential property in Glanmire, Co Cork shortly after 4 am on Monday, January 12.

“The fire was extinguished prior to arrival of fire services personnel, and no injuries were reported. Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
