Plans for female-focused taxi service in Cork

LadyCab is Ireland’s first female-focused taxi service.

Ireland’s first female-focused taxi service, LadyCab, is planning to expand its service to Cork in the coming months.

After launching officially with a pilot service in Dublin last month, LadyCab aims to provide safer journeys for women who can also use its app to request for a female driver.

LadyCab founder Emanuela Negura told The Echo that plans for this year include expanding the service beyond the capital to Cork, Limerick, and Galway.

“Our intention is to first pilot and rigorously test the service in Dublin to ensure the model is robust, scalable, and operationally sound before expanding nationally.

“Assuming the Dublin pilot proves successful, we are aiming to begin our first recruitment campaign for Cork-based taxi drivers toward the end of March or beginning of April,” said Ms Negura.

“Once we have enough drivers to reliably serve at least the central Cork hub, we will make a final decision on launch timing and proceed accordingly.

“Our expansion approach is very deliberate. Safety, service quality, and driver readiness come first,” she added

“We want to ensure that when LadyCab launches in a new city, it does so with the right foundations in place for both passengers and drivers.”

Regardless of gender, LadyCab requires all drivers to pass a strict selection process, including comprehensive background checks and garda vetting.

Each of its vehicles is equipped with GPS tracking, so passenger journeys can be monitored in real time.
