Sergeant John Dineen outlined the case against Helen Ruane, aged 58, of Stone House, Barrack St, Kinsale.

On the application of her solicitor, Eddie Burke, the case was adjourned until February 5 for the defence to indicate if a plea of guilty or not guilty was being entered.

Sgt Dineen said the prosecution alleged that the Indian students paid a total of €4,000, or €800 each, to the defendant, but the accommodation was not provided.

The five charges state that between July 24 and July 30, 2024, the accused “did steal property, to wit €800 paid in respect of accommodation, which was not provided” to each of five people.
