ardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision which happened between last night and this morning.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision which happened some time between last night and this morning.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a car in the water of the River Bride, close to the Conna Road R628, shortly before 10am this morning.

The sole occupant of the car, a man aged in his 30s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His body was removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

The road remains closed pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were traveling on the Conna Road R628 between 10pm on Friday 19 and 10am on Saturday 20 are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
