‘Great memories’ from Barrs

It is the end of the season for St Finbarr's footballers as they lost out to Dingle in a dramatic Munster final, with the match ending in a score of 1-18 to 0-20.

A spokesperson for the team said: "Unfortunately our football journey has come to an end for the year. You have given us so many great memories along the way, we are extremely proud of the players and of management. We would like to acknowledge our supporters, turning out in great numbers to support our team. Also, thank you to our generous sponsors.

"Ye gave it ye're all, we could ask for no more. Our league and county champions. Best of luck to Dingle in the All Ireland semifinal. Roll on 2026."

Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire TD said: "A truly heartbreaking end to a remarkable journey. Sport can be so cruel.

"But incredibly proud, and grateful. This group has given us memories to last a lifetime and provided huge inspiration to the next generation."

"Táimíd morálach asaibh. Go raibh míle maith agaibh."

"A very big thank you especially to Teresa McCarthy, our community health worker for our older community, for all your hard work, dedication and for going above and beyond in organising the Tea Dance and other wonderful events during the year.

"Thanks also to HSE South West and Cork City Council also for your continued support over the years. A huge thanks also. as always, to Mary Sheehy of Cork City Partnership and her team whose help was also greatly appreciated on the day."
