Man (30s) arrested following recovery of 18 stolen cattle in West Cork
As a result of a search operation in the Ballydehob area, the 18 cattle were found, identified, and returned to their owner.
A man in his 30s has been arrested following the recovery of 18 stolen cattle in West Cork.
As part of an ongoing investigation into an incident of theft, which occurred at a farm in the Lakelands area of Skibbereen last month, gardaí from the Serious Crime Units in Clonakilty, Bandon and Bantry, supported by the Divisional Search Team and the Department of Agriculture, conducted a search operation in the Ballydehob area on Monday.
As a result of the searches, the 18 cattle were found, identified, and returned to their owner.
A man, aged in his 30s, was subsequently arrested and taken to a garda station in county Cork.
He is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said that “investigations are ongoing” as enquiries into the theft of the small herd are underway with the assistance of the Department of Agriculture.
