Cork City Council’s senior management have not met with Uisce Éireann since March and do not have any meetings planned.

Labour’s Peter Horgan asked at Monday’s council meeting when senior officials had last met Uisce Éireann’s chief executive and management, what issues were discussed, and when their next meeting is scheduled.

The council’s Noel Murtagh, acting director of local area development and operations, said: “A meeting was held between Cork City Council and Uisce Éireann senior management on March 19, which was attended by Cork City Council’s chief executive and Uisce Éireann’s CEO.

“The purpose of the meeting was for [the council] to raise and outline their concerns to Uisce Éireann across a number of areas, including: Key strategic issues impacting growth in Cork City under planning and development management and housing; Uisce Éireann’s operational issues; the end of the service level agreement; and reassignment of staff.

“Currently, there are no further meetings scheduled between the senior management teams.”

He added that a review of issues from the council’s perspective and Uisce Éireann’s progress was planned for the end of the year.
