Fourth gold medal in a row for Carrigaline Tidy Towns

Carrigaline Tidy Towns were represented by Betty O’Riordan, Marie O’Mahony, and Alan Desmond in Croke Park at the recent announcement of this year’s Tidy Town’s competition results.

Carrigaline won gold again, for the fourth year in a row.

For all the community involved in the Carrigaline Tidy Towns campaign it was gratifying to hear the increase of a whopping 15 marks to a total of 390, which was itemised in a very detailed and complimentary report.

The morning after the ceremony, Tidy Towns volunteers were heard to say: “Just because we have secured gold doesn’t mean the work is finished.” The volunteers then spent a very b usy morning in the woodlands, litter picking and weeding, planting new bulbs and seedlings.

More than 200 glass bottles and cans were collected that morning from the woodland area, demonstrating continued community involvement and environmental dedication and hard work.

When the volunteers gathered at the HQ for their regular cupán té, after completing their various tasks around the town, they were delighted to be treated to a great selection of scones and pastries by Tidy Towns main sponsor, David Collins, of Barry Collins SuperValu.

David congratulated the volunteers and thanked them for all that they do for Carrigaline and wished them continued success in the future.
