The Macroom Community Text Alert programme is to hold its official launch and registration event tonight

The launch is to be held at 7:30pm, this evening, Thursday November 6, at The Castle Hotel Macroom.

This launch and registration evening is being held in partnership with An Garda Síochána and Muintir na Tíre.

The event is aimed to help keeping the rural community safe and support vulnerable neighbours by reducing opportunities for crime and encouraging vigilance.

The national text alert system allows communities to receive text or email alerts from the Gardaí in relation to suspicious or criminal activity in their area.

For further information contact Bríd on 087 2114313 or Miriam on 087 9396575.

The event organisers state that all in the local community are welcome to attend and to learn about how to help keep Macroom safe and connected.
