Guilty plea on illegal dumping in Cork
A waste transport certificate is to be secured by a defendant who signed pleas of guilty to various counts under waste management legislation at Cork Circuit Criminal Court.
Matt Fallon of 45 Grand Parade, Cork, appeared in court on November 3 and affirmed the signed pleas of guilty to several counts brought against him by Cork County Council and prosecuted by indictment.
Defence barrister Carmel Goggin asked for sentencing of the middle-aged defendant to be adjourned until February 23 so that a Waste Transport Certificate could be obtained by Mr Fallon, and Judge Helen Boyle acceded to that application.
The counts relate to dates between August 2023 and September 2024 at Middle Road, Knocknagore, Kerrycurrihy, Crosshaven, for offences contrary to the Waste Management Act and related legislation, and they refer to causing or facilitating the abandonment, dumping or unauthorised management or treatment of waste, failing to comply with directions from an authorised person, failing to comply with a notice served on him, and disposal or recovery of waste for which no licence was in place for carrying on the activity.
No details were given in court of the background circumstances that gave rise to the prosecution by Cork County Council.
