At the latest Cork City North East Ward local area meeting, councillors decided to implement several traffic calming measures across the area through a €100,000 investment in traffic calming measures.
This includes two ramps each in Kilcully, Brooklodge East national school, Ballincollie Road to Lower Dublin Hill, Hazelwood Road to Hazelwood Avenue, Kilcully to Ballinihinna and Ballinderry Park.
A further four ramps will be delivered at Silversprings Court & Lawn, while one ramp each will be introduced in Tracton Estate, Ashmount Mews, Silverheights Road and Glenthorn Drive.
Labour’s John Maher welcomed the traffic calming measures approved, saying that voting in favour of the council’s proposed budget each year was essential to get funding for community improvement projects like these.
He said: “I know there’s more to do, but these will be a good start to 2026. This is what supporting budgets delivers for communities across Cork.”
