Charity sale of bullock in Cork mart raises €15k for Féile's recovery
The bullock, which was donated by Dunmanway farmers Daniel Power and Edwina Patterson towards the fundraiser, sold for €12,000
A charity auction at Macroom Mart has raised a total of €15,000 for the Stand for Féile fundraiser.
Féile O’Sullivan, 13, sustained life-altering injuries in a farm incident in her native Beara this summer.
A bullock, which was donated by Dunmanway farmers Daniel Power and Edwina Patterson towards the fundraiser, was sold for €12,000 at Macroom Mart.
The animal was purchased by Padraig Twomey from ABP Bandon.
Meanwhile, a heifer calf donated by Jerome Coakley brought in an additional €3,000, which was purchased collectively by the friends and staff of Macroom Mart.
Manager of Macroom Mart Jerh O’Sullivan told there was a great atmosphere at the charity auction in aid of Stand for Féile.
“It highlighted the generosity of the farming community and the people involved in it as well.

“The crowd that was here was phenomenal, including non-farming people who came to see the animal being sold and to see how successful it was.”
The Stand for Féile fundraising campaign was established for Féile's ongoing medical care, rehabilitation and future needs, with over €700,000 raised overall to date.
The West Cork teenager is now out of intensive care, though her treatment continues at Crumlin Hospital.
