Dragon of Shandon parade provides another 'spooktacular' night on Cork's northside

Members of the Craic’d Up hip-hop group and northside music icons Kabin Krew joined Cork Art Link and Blackpool Youth Club members, and local supporters, for another spooktacular Dragon of Shandon parade on Halloween Night.

The popular annual project from Cork Community Art Link & Cork City Communities kicked off at 7pm last night as the skeletal dragon wound its way around the north city streets, accompanied by ghastly ghouls, beautiful beasts, and various other creatures of the night.

There were dancing skeletons, witchy dancers and brilliant bugs lighting up the dark October evening.

The Cork city event drew its usual large crowds to mark the ancient tradition of Samhain, attracting young and old, locals and visitors, to the wonderful display of creativity and imagination.

Last night’s event was the finale after many weeks of community-led free workshops, bringing local talent together to create a night that fuels the imagination and brings many communities together.

As the organisers said: “It takes a village to raise a child, but to raise a Dragon, we need an entire city.”
